VOCABULARY

Panoptic Segmentation

Panoptic segmentation is a computer vision task that combines elements of both semantic segmentation (identifying object classes in an image) and instance segmentation (distinguishing between different instances of the same class).

How Panoptic Segmentation Operates

In panoptic segmentation, every pixel in an image is labeled with a class, and different instances of the same class are also distinguished from each other. This approach provides a comprehensive understanding of the scene, identifying both the nature of objects present and their specific boundaries and instances.
